We understand perfectly if you think your eyeballs are lying to you. Indeed, the 2011 Honda Fury VT1300CX appears to be something from the farthest fringes of the two-wheeled world. Yet it’s a Honda, through and through. Here we have the rolling incarnation of the pure, undiluted chopper essence, a machine that simply looks right, sounds right and goes straight to the heart of radical enthusiasts. Yet despite the extreme lines and head-turning looks, the 2011 Honda Fury VT1300CX is backed up with the same fit and finish, functionality, affordability, quality and reliability built into every Honda. Who would have ever thought it possible?

Witness the Fury — hands down, the most distinctive custom Honda has ever created. Long, lean and mean, stretching nearly six feet from axle to axle, this machine literally screams with chopper style. And once you’ve saddled up and fired that big 1312cc V-twin, and felt its throbbing pulse beneath you, you’ll know you’ve experienced a motorcycle like none other. Ever.

A Masterpiece of Form and Function

Make no mistake, the Fury is all about the way it looks, sounds and feels—and the way all these sensations make you feel when you’re riding it. But like all Hondas, the Fury is also a showcase of engineering, boasting innovative features like Programmed Fuel Injection, custom-cast wheels, specially designed shaft drive, and, of course, that monster 1312cc V-twin. Call it the perfect marriage of style and substance

The Beast Within.

You won’t find a V-twin more righteous than the Fury’s, a 52º, 1312cc brute, putting out heaps of power and torque—and a sound that is pure V-twin soul.

It’s all the rage.

If you’re looking for the buzz on this bad machine, then look no further than Facebook,YouTube, and Twitter, and see what the world is saying about the Fury.

Unleash your inner Fury.

Wanting to add your own personal touch to your Fury is a given. And that’s why we’ve got an armful of cool, classic chopper-style accessories to help get you started.

Features

New for 2011

- Pearl White and Matte Orange Metallic colors join Dark Red Metallic.

1300cc V-twin Engine – Powerful 1312cc, 52-degree V-twin engine with a single-pin crankshaft and dual balancers has plenty of torque, and the feel only a V-twin can deliver.

Fuel Injection – Forget about fiddling with a choke—the Fury’s fuel-injection system means no-hassle startups on cold mornings or at high altitudes.

High-Tensile Steel Frame – The Fury’s high-tensile steel frame is the centerpiece to this machine’s open, minimalist, chopper styling. It’s functional too, delivering smooth ride quality and responsive handling.

Exhaust – The Fury’s engine features specially designed camshafts that also add to the unique V-twin sound and power-pulse exhaust sensations.

Shaft Final Drive – The shaft final drive is quiet, clean, and has been uniquely integrated into the overall design.

Unique Wheels and Tires – A fat 200-series rear tire is paired with a slim 21-inch front tire, both wrapped around distinctive alloy wheels.

Low Seat – The Fury’s super-low 26.7-inch seat height is an integral design element that fits in behind the slim and long fuel tank.

Colors – The Fury comes in three outstanding colors: Dark Red Metallic, Pearl White and Matte Orange Metallic.

Chopper Styling – The Fury is one of the most authentic, radically styled custom motorcycles that Honda has ever produced, featuring an ingenious single-shock rear suspension system with an aluminum swingarm.

Long Rake – A raked-out front end and condensed, hard-tail look to the rear, plus a stretched wheelbase. And that long wheelbase is no illusion—the Fury stretches a full 71.2 inches between axles.

Brakes – A single powerful 336mm-diameter front disc brake is complemented by a 296mm brake disc in back.

Straight from the streets of Japan, this Honda CB750 Café Type Motorimoda is our kind of retro-styled café racer, even if it does have a very long name. With styling borrowed from 1970s endurance racers, the Type Motorimoda, designed by one Shinichiro Arakawa, is fitted with a standard CB750’s carburetted, air-cooled, four-cylinder engine. With a replacement exhaust system and careful tuning, power output is a claimed 20bhp up on the stock CB, which means it’s probably around 85bhp now.

With its handmade aluminium fuel tank, custom fabricated 4-2-1 exhaust system and long list of carbonfibre parts, the CB750 Café Type Motorimoda weighs 220 kilos – 15kg less than a stock CB750. We think the bike looks totally cool, though at 2.7 million Yen (US$29,700), it’s certainly not cheap!

With just one win to his name this season Dani Pedrosa wants to double that tally on home soil on Sunday at the Gran Premio Generali de la Comunitat Valenciana, and after starting the weekend third on the timesheets in Friday’s free practice he knows he needs to up the pace.

The Spanish star, who has a good record at Valencia, was just under half a second off pace man Casey Stoner’s hot lap of 1’32.813 in the hour-long opening practice and also trailed fellow Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo on the timesheet. He later explained that a race victory in front of the home fans to end the season would mean more to him than overcoming Stoner in the standings at the final round of the 2009 season.

”For a first practice session, this was OK today and we completed some valuable laps to familiarise ourselves with this circuit again,” said the man from Barcelona. “It was really windy out there and this affected the machine more in some corners than others – like in the third sector where it was quite difficult to control the bike. Still, we have time to solve this tomorrow. Also, it’s good that we got used to the windy conditions because it looks like we’ll have them for the whole weekend.”

“The track surface was not totally clean,” Pedrosa continued. “But actually the grip was good and the Bridgestone tyres were working well. There’s a gap to the riders in front and we need to make some improvements for tomorrow so that we’ve got the best chance of qualifying well. I really want to win this race – it’s more important to me than finishing third in the championship – so we need to work really hard to give us a good chance on Sunday.”

Honda went on the record December 2008, when CEO Takeo Fukui said his company would produce an electric motorcycle in about two years time (Honda Plans for Electric Motorcycle). Now Big Red has unveiled two potential EV models – the EVE-neo scooter and EV-Cub. Both units will make their official debuts at the upcoming 2009 Tokyo Motor Show, October 24.

Honda EV-Cub

Should Honda enter the electric motorcycle market, it seems fitting that the Cub carry the charge. The most-sold vehicle in human history at 65 million and growing, the Honda Cub has already left a permanent mark on internal combustion transportation – could the Honda EV-Cub do the same in electric transportation?

The EV-Cub “electric motorcycle” will be one of the featured vehicles at the Honda Tokyo Motor Show booth in the HELLO! Zone. Standing for Honda Electric mobility Loop, the HELLO! display incorporates many facets of zero-CO2 technology. Honda describes the HELLO! Zone as: “a comprehensive display of Honda’s electromotive technologies, including automobiles, motorcycles, power products, and more-everything from products that supply electricity to products that incorporate electronic technologies. By linking solar panels that supply electricity with battery electric vehicles that emit zero CO2 in use, Honda envisions the low-carbon society of the near future. In addition, each HELLO! vehicle features interactive communication technologies that showcase the fun ways in which mobility devices can interact with people and society.”

Honda EVE-neo Scooter

Another candidate for electric production to debut at Tokyo is the EVE-neo Honda scooter. It looks more conventional than the EV-Cub, though it’s difficult to make out many details from the photos. Honda’s explanation of the new design is terse, saying the EVE-neo scooter “achieves clean and tough performance that only an electric-powered scooter can provide.”

Also slated for display at Tokyo is the Honda PCX scooter, which features a “idling stop system,” which shuts down the IC engine at idle. As previously reported the PCX will be available in Taiwan and other Asian markets, as well as Europe and America (though the US version will not come without the headlining “idle stop” function.)

Again, details will await Honda’s release of more information. Stay tuned.
